Join us for ABAOC’s most anticipated marquee event — the ABAOC BizCon: Business Convention. Continuing with the excellence of last year’s event, we have brought back several elements to the program that are sure to provide great value to business owners and professionals seeking to transform their business. The program proper features a fascinating panel of speakers, set against the backdrop of our Business Expo and capped-off with last year’s hit, the Mayoral Fast Pitch.
The keystone of BizCon is the opportunity for qualified Small, Minority and Veteran Owned Businesses to be matched-up and interview with prospective public/private sector “buyers” during the “BizMatch” Strategic Matchmaking Sessions. This is a GREAT opportunity for any business to establish a direct-line channel to doing business at the corporate and government level.

A staple of our annual Business Convention is the Business Expo room, where exhibitors come to showcase their companies products, services and capabilities. It’s a great way to bring some visibility to your business, especially when many in the crowd are representatives from major public and private corporations/agencies.

Dean L. Song Richardson,Dean of the University of California, Irvine School of Law
– Dean and Chancellor’s Professor of Law at the University of California, Irvine School of Law
– She has won numerous awards and recognitions, including the American Association of Law School’s Derrick Bell Award, which recognizes a faculty member’s extraordinary contributions to legal education through mentoring, teaching, and scholarship.
– She was recently named one of the Top Women Lawyers in California by The Daily Journal, one of the 100 Most Influential business and opinion shapers in Orange County, and one of the two most influential Korean Americans in OC.

Nancy Yoon, Asians in LA
– Nancy Yoon is the co-founder of “Asians in LA,” a social network of Asian American influencers from politics, entertainment, nonprofit and community leaders and a PR media agency for the Asian American community in Southern California.
– She is also an actor, TV host, speaker, connector for the Asian American community with numerous years of experience working in entertainment, international and talent relations, media & communications, nonprofits, and finance. As an Asian American influencer, community leader, and AAPI advocate, she is helping to push for diversity and inclusion for minorities including Asian Americans and women in entertainment, corporations, and boards.
– Nancy is a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (EMMYS), Tiffany Circle board of the American Red Cross, Deacon at Bel Air Church, Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL) Glass Leadership Institute, ADL-AsianJewish Initiative, PBS SoCal Asian American Community Council and L.A. Mayor Garcetti’s Film and TV Task Force. She and her husband co-founded Europeans in LA, the largest social network of Europeans in Los Angeles and Asians in LA a social network for the Asian American community.

Youngsong Martin, Wildflower Linens
– Founder of Wildflower Linen, leading designer and producer of specialty table linens and chair covers for event rentals
– Wildflower Linen’s extensive inventory of fashion-forward and traditional décor has been featured at the post-Oscars Governor’s Ball and Vanity Fair after-parties, aboard charter yachts, in noted resorts and country clubs, at prestigious White House events and even at the gala party for a DreamWorks premiere at the Venice Film Festival in Italy.

Nanxi Liu, CEO and Co-Founder of Enplug
– CEO and Co-Founder of Enplug.com, the leading open software for powering digital displays in stadiums, malls, hotels, stores, restaurants, and banks. The company is headquartered in Los Angeles and has offices in Brazil, Australia, Japan, Poland, and the UK.
– She was named Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in 2016 and Fortune’s 2015 Top 10 Most Promising Women Entrepreneurs. While an undergrad at UC Berkeley, Nanxi co-founded Nanoly Bioscience, a venture-backed biotech company that develops polymers to eliminate refrigeration for vaccines and therapeutics. The company received the Top Research Award at the World Biomaterials Congress and Nanxi serves on the Board. In addition, Nanxi serves on the Board of Advisors for Covington Capital, which manages $2.5 billion, and as a Partner at XFactor Ventures, which invests in women-founded startups.
– Passionate about community service, Nanxi serves on the Board of Directors for the National Foster Youth Institute, the Los Angeles Police Foundation, and Tiger Scholarship Foundation. She was appointed as 1 of 5 voting members to the New Motor Vehicle Board of the California Department of Motor Vehicles. In 2018, Nanxi received UC Berkeley’s Sather Gate Young Volunteer of the Year Award.

Jessica Chen, Founder and CEO of Soulcast Media
– Founder and CEO of Soulcast Media, a communications and media agency
– Received an Emmy-Award for her work at ABC 10News and multiple Associated Press Awards
– Jessica is on a mission to help professionals, entrepreneurs and executives build their confidence in speaking authentically, and to teach the use of storytelling to create connection and engagement on various media platforms.

Vaughn M. Williams III, Supplier Diversity Program Manager for SoCalGas Company
Vaughn is responsible for ensuring the advancement of small, minority and underrepresented businesses. This position coincides with his passion of service and economic development. Previously he served as Category Manager for Southern California Gas Company (A Division of Sempra Energy), where his responsibilities included management of all staff augmentation, contracts negotiation and management, fostering long-term client relationships in the areas of engineering, environmental, food services and Human Resources. Prior to assuming this role, Vaughn worked as the On-Site Client Services Manager (Sempra Energy Utilities) under the auspices of Agile-1.

Michael Herrera, Program Manager for Supplier Diversity and Development, Southern California Edison
Michael Herrera is the Program Manager for the Supplier Diversity and Development department at Southern California Edison (SCE). He is responsible for managing all aspects of the company’s compliance with applicable rules, regulations and public laws related to small and diverse business procurement. This includes managing strategies, programs and goals that facilitate the ongoing inclusion and growth of small and diverse business enterprises.
Prior to his current role, Michael was a Category Management Advisor for Supply Management at Southern California Gas Company and San Diego Gas & Electric. Over his professional career, he has led large cross-functional project teams, managed multi-million dollar budgets, negotiated large settlements agreements, led the execution of strategic sourcing efforts in addition to other contract management activities and also worked for a small Woman-Owned General Contractor out of Orange County, CA.
Michael also serves on the Corporate Advisory Boards of several non-profits that target both the Asian and Women business community.

Daniel Rosinsky-Larsson, Outreach Liaison, California Department of General Services
Daniel Rosinsky-Larsson serves as Outreach Liaison for the California Department of General Services, where he educates and advises targeted business groups on applying for contracts and work with state agencies. Before joining DGS, Daniel worked as a journalist, editor, policy analyst, and teacher. He holds a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and M.P.A. from Montana State University.

Mayoral “Fast Pitch”
Back for another year by popular demand, ABAOC presents the Mayoral Fast Pitch. Mayors representing some of the cities in Orange County step up to the mic and deliver their best quick pitch as to why you should bring your business to their city! If you didn’t catch last year’s group, you definitely don’t want to miss out this year!

Steve Jones, Mayor of Garden Grove
– In 1986, Mayor Jones graduated from Rancho Alamitos High School in Garden Grove. He continued his studies abroad by attending Kings College, Cambridge University, England in 1988. Returning to the states, he received both his Bachelor and MBA degrees from the University of Southern California, with a dual emphasis in Finance and Real Estate. Mayor Jones is the Past President and a current Board Member of the Garden Grove Community Foundation since 2007. He also serves as a Board Member for the Orange County Transportation Authority and the Orange County Sanitation District. Mayor Jones served for 8 years on the Garden Grove Planning Commission, with several terms as Chair, and 10 years on City Council prior to becoming Mayor in 2016. Since 1999, he has been an active member of the Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce.
– In his professional life, Steve Jones is the Founder and President of a privately held Asset Management company called Olympia Capital Corporation, formed in 2001.
– Mayor Jones’ community goal is to remain open and accessible to the public and play a unifying role amongst fellow Councilmembers and other community leaders in order to facilitate consensus on what actions should be implemented to keep Garden Grove a great place to live, work, and play.

Tri Ta, Mayor of Westminster
– Tri Ta was born in Saigon, Vietnam. He came to the United States with his family in 1992 at the age of 19. He then received a B.A. in Political Science and has completed the requirements for an M.A. in International Relations. Tri appreciates the opportunities given to him by the political process and democracy in the United States, leading him to begin working as a legislative representative in 1998.
– Mayor Tri Ta was elected on November 6, 2018 to serve his fourth term as mayor. Mayor Ta was first elected to the Westminster City Council in November 2006 and re-elected in 2010. In 2008, he was selected to serve as Mayor Pro Tem. Mayor Ta became the first Vietnamese-American elected mayor in the United States with his victory on November 6, 2012; he was re-elected as mayor in November 2014 and 2016.
– Tri has been active in many non-profit organizations, committees and projects, including UVSA; VPAC; New Horizon; Orange History Program; NAVASA; Rancho Santiago Community College District’s Measure Advisory Committee; Giving Back Program; Asian Pacific National Steering Committee and Kiwanis International. He is frequently sought-after by universities as an inspirational speaker whose ultimate message to the youth is “Follow your dream ’til the end.”

Harry Sidhu, Mayor of Anaheim
– Sidhu is honored to be Anaheim’s first mayor of Indian heritage. Born and raised in India, Sidhu came to the United States in 1974 with his family, settling in Philadelphia. He became a U.S. citizen in 1979.
– Harry Sidhu was elected mayor representing Anaheim at large in November 2018 with a leadership vision of the “City that Empowers the American Dream.” Sidhu previously served on Anaheim’s City Council from 2004 to 2012, including as mayor pro tem from 2009 to 2011 and in 2012. As mayor, Sidhu encourages a thriving business community and economic development that creates jobs and housing and that meets the needs of residents, businesses and visitors.
– Calling for a new Golden Age for Anaheim, Sidhu has set out a bold initiative to invest $250 million in Anaheim neighborhoods in the next 10 years, with spending based directly on resident feedback. Continued growth at and around the city’s theme parks and sports venues is seen driving revenue for future neighborhood investment.

• Reaching Customers Online with Google: Learn how customers find your business online and how to promote your business using Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Smart Campaigns in Google Ads. In this workshop we’ll discuss best practices for improving your website’s visibility in Google’s organic search results on all devices, creating a free Google My Business listing and advertising your business on Google2.
• Using Data to Drive Growth: Learn best practices and analyze trends about how customers engage with your business online, then turn these insights into well-informed, actionable decisions.
