Nov. 16 Asian Business Association Event Will Recognize Corporate Advisory Board and Member Achievements

According to ABAOC President Iris McCammon, this year’s gala is dedicated to Asian American entrepreneurs who have achieved a “breakthrough” in their industry despite the “tough economy.”
“No one does it alone,” McCammon said. “ABAOC has formed alliances with corporate partners among Fortune 500 companies that assist small businesses. In turn, our members provide products and services that generate revenue and contribute both to the community and to a healthier economy.”
Event sponsors and partners include Disneyland, the Metropolitan Water District, New York Life, Southern California Edison, Southwest Airlines, The Gas Company, US Bank, City National Bank, Orange County Transportation Authority, Verizon, Wells Fargo, and Walmart.
About 500 people are expected to attend, including corporate advisory board members and executives, members of the Orange County business and surrounding business communities, and Orange County elected officials.
“Most of all, it will be a night of fun,” McCammon said. “The highlight will be recognizing our corporate advisory board for all the support they have extended to ABAOC through the years.”
Awards being presented at the gala are the Corporate Eagle Award, Corporate Diversity Advocate of the Year Award, Corporate Excellence Award, Corporate Community Development Person of the Year Award, Corporate Supplier Diversity Person of the Year Award, Emerging Small Business Award, Entrepreneur of the Year Award, ABAOC Member of the Year Award, ABAOC President’s Award, and a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Incoming ABAOC officers and board members will also be inaugurated into their new positions, and past officers and board members will be recognized for their contributions to the organization.
ABAOC was founded in 1992 as a nonprofit whose mission is “to provide Asian Americans the opportunity to gain access to economic advancement through networking, education and community representation.” The organization was designed to serve the needs of the growing number of businesses in Orange County that are owned by Asian Americans.
